BEACH BAG ESSENTIALS!
The time has finally arrived! I get to get on an airplane ALONE tomorrow and go meet my best friend in California! I have been waiting 4 years for a girl’s trip and I am going to enjoy every minute of sun, sand and shopping. It’s been awhile since I saw the Pacific Ocean so I want to make sure I’m prepared. I’m not worrying about sand toys, snacks and diapers… this one is all about me.
Here are some beach bag essentials to make the most out of your day:
BIKINI: Aerie (a division of American Eagle) has some fabulous swim suits this year. Lots of different fun colours and fits to compliment any body type. Right now they are Buy one, Get one HALF OFF!! I mixed and matched top and bottom.
SCARF: This brightly coloured Elephant scarf from Stella & Dot is a great one to travel with. Wear it as a scarf, a shawl or a sarong! It is large enough to wrap around and tie over your chest as a beach cover up.
SUN HAT: This one from J.Crew is on repeat from a previous post and also comes in black. I love hats at the beach. It’s a great way to keep those sun-prone areas like your face, and shoulders from burning.
SUN GLASSES: I’m a limited to sunglasses because I need prescription. Mine are Coach from Costco but I LOVE these cat-eye ones from Express or if you need help seeing, try this Kam Dhillon pair from Clearly Contacts.ca The cute tropical case is available in-store from Aldo!
LIP BALM: I can’t tell you how many times I have forgotten to put sunscreen on my lips and paid the price. BABY LIPS from Maybelline has SPF 20 and a hint of colour. I grabbed “Cherry Me” from Walmart this week for $3.48!
WET BIKINI BAG: Such a cute idea! If you need to change out of your swim suit, toss it in here to keep it from soaking everything else in your bag. This is great for suitcase travel too when you don’t have time to dry. This one is From Shopper’s Drug Mart.
TOTE: This carry-all hails from Shopper’s Drug Mart. I also love these from Chapters Indigo right now!
GREAT BOOK: For the beach you need a book that keeps your attention and allows you to easily pick back up again between ocean dips. I like my Kobo eReader because it is light and easy to hold and I can store multiple books in case I finish one on my travels. GIRL ON THE TRAIN by Paula Hawkins is that book. The story is fast paced and so intriguing, it keeps you guessing until the end. Trust me. If you loved, Gone Girl, you will love this one too.
TUNES: My fave album these days is by a Canadian band called The ARKELLS. “High Noon” offers catchy, up-beat songs that will have you singing along in no time.
CHARGER: The PowerTrip charger uses solar power to charge your phone, eReader, whatever! Plug it in at home to fill up the battery or let the sun do the charging. Get a charge without leaving your beach chair! It comes with a few different USB cords to match most of your devices.
FLIP FLOPS: Tory Burch. Always my fave for shoes of any kind!
Most importantly don’t forget: SUNCREEN AND WATER!
Now it’s time to put all of these beach items into my suitcase!
