FIVE FUN FREE THINGS TO DO IN LOS ANGELES
First of all: THIS DRESS. I felt a bit like a Greek goddess while shooting these photos in the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills. A cute, retro boutique hotel that I stayed in with my bestie while visiting LA a couple weeks ago. It felt pretty cool to be staying somewhere that the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Lucille Ball used to call a second home. I had such a fabulous time touring around the city and now I want to share some sights with you!
So if you are a planner like me then you may want to know beforehand what to do while visiting LA. Here are 5 FUN & FREE things that I recommend:
A beautiful beach and a cool little pier to mosey around. Walk the pier or ride the rides. Dine at Bubba Gump’s with a great view of the beaches.
Venice Beach is worth a visit to see all of the unique types of people who hang out here. It’s an iconic place for movie and television, so snap a photo under the hanging Venice sign. When you’re done exploring the beach area, walk a few blocks East to the swanky Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Enjoy some shopping in the boutique shops and have a bite to eat at Gjelina Take Away (seriously, you must eat here).
This was definitely my favourite experience in Los Angeles. Spend some time walking the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame and check out the hand prints in front of the Chinese Theatre. Grab a drink around the pool at the Roosevelt Hotel. Lots of touristy stuff going on here…. embrace it! 🙂
Obviously, you must catch a glimpse of the Hollywood Sign. You can park and hike up to it or (I know it’s cheesy) jump on an LA tour bus. Take a Starline Bus from the Walk of Fame and drive past other cool attractions like Paramount Theatres and movie star’s homes. You can even take a bus tour with stops at all of the places mentioned above.
Even if you can’t afford anything on this famous strip (maybe a pair of Tory Burch flip flops?), grab a coffee and window shop this immaculate tree-lined street.
