Yee-haw! It’s almost time for the annual Calgary Stampede. Ten days of country and western craziness that descends over our city. I’ve got you covered for some wardrobe staples that you’ll need to achieve the perfect Stampede style.
Calgary Stampede Style
This year the Calgary Stampede runs from July 7–16, 2017. If you haven’t heard of this massive event, the city transforms into a crazy Western Town for ten days. People come from all over to compete or spectate the rodeo, bull riding and chuck wagon races. Whether you are into this type of thing or not, it’s truly something to see. My kids love the kick-off parade and the carnival grounds are set up with rides, games and delicious eats.
The country music scene comes alive with amazing headliners at the Scotiabank Saddledome, this year it’s Brooks and Dunn, Johnny Reid, Alabama, Jeff Foxworthy and even Usher/The Roots. The Coke Stage boasts all sorts of musical talent like Ben Harper, Alessia Cara and Theory of a Deadman that you can enjoy for free with the price of grounds admission.
So what I’m getting at is there are tons of all-day and evening events to attend, meaning that you have to look the part! I’ll be wearing this cowgirl outfit with Texan pride.
You gotta look the part right? Here are some of my country wardrobe essentials!
- Denim shirt or dress
- White jeans
- Cowboy hat
- Cowboy boots
- Aviator sunglasses
- Bandana (tie it around your neck, wrist or purse handle!)
- Anything PLAID! Try a plaid shirt, tie up the bottom and wear with a denim skirt and belt buckle.
- Turquoise jewellery
- Belt buckle
