Every spring I get the urge to purge, clean and redecorate. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a total redecoration, I’m sharing five very inexpensive and easy ways to refresh your house for spring. If you’re still stuck under a Canadian snow pile, this can be just what you need to bring a little colour into your home.
1. Bloom. Nothing says spring like tulips. Beautiful flowers add colour to any room in your house. Add a country feel by using a big mason jar or a water pitcher (like this one for $8.99 from Ikea) instead of your traditional vase.
Tip: to make your tulips last longer, change the water and clip a little bit of the ends everyday. Tulips like shallow water. I add a tsp of sugar and a few drops of bleach or vodka to each water change.
2. Say it. My talented sister-in-law just opened her Etsy Shop called Wood & Whimsy. Bring the season into your home with a one-of-a-kind banner . I love the rustic burlap and twine combined with the pretty colourful letters. Order yours here for only $20 or ask for something custom! She has tons of cute finds on her Facebook page too (support small businesses)!
