This cape was just too pretty not to capture for a blog post. It is a must-have item to wear this spring and won’t cost you much ($33)! Most capes give you more of a bohemian vibe but you can easily change the look with your outfit and accessories. Shop the latest trend for spring:
I heart the weekends. Who doesn’t? It’s a break from the everyday grind of the workweek and for some of us moms, a little release when dad is home to do some co-parenting. Yippee! My husband calls himself “Super Dad” on the weekends because he tries to spend as much time with them as possible to make up for the lost time during the week.
We tend to try and get the kids out to something so that they aren’t staying home and fighting over Lego Minifigures all day. One of our favourite things to do, that requires no planning, is to grab coffees (and donuts!) and go for a drive. We usually check out new neighbourhoods and end up at a playground. With this gorgeous weather we’ve been having in Calgary, I think spring is officially almost here!
I enjoy getting out of my teacher work clothes on the weekends and dressing in some of my favourite clothes that aren’t so work appropriate. 🙂 I’ve linked all of my affordable outfit items so that you can see what is trending now!
Here are my picks for your weekend style essentials:
Distressed denim– $24 from Aeropostale It’s still popular this season! I personally can’t have enough pairs of ripped jeans. Grab these jeggings or go really distressed with these boyfriend jeans, also for $24.
Cardigan seater – $38 from Shein The one I am wearing is no longer available from Joe Fresh but in keeping with the aztec print, I LOVE this one from Shein! These sweaters are great because they are warm enough for you to leave your coat at home.
Necklace – This lariat has great versatility and can be worn in over 6 different ways. I also am a big fan of stud earrings and this little pack gives you three pairs to choose from. Check them out at Stella & Dot.

Raspberry Crush – A Little Glam for the Everyday Girl
I got to have a lot of fun with this photo shoot last week in one of my favourite parks in Calgary. I was lucky enough to capture some great shots with a longtime book club friend and local photographer Cendrine a.k.a. @photofrazzle
I wanted to add this new beanie that I made for her to my Etsy Shop and she graciously agreed to take some photos for me. My husband was thrilled he was off the hook for taking blog photos this week!
I’ve been whipping up so many chunky knits this winter that I was kind of excited and a little anxious to try something new and different. I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the way it turned out. Slouchy beanies are always in style, they are great for keeping you warm outdoors or even indoors too for days when you are too rushed to do your hair! They suit all kinds of style types: the momma, the hipster, the trendy or just the everyday girl.
This sweet little beanie is perfect for the warmer winter temperatures and the colour adds a gorgeous pop to any outerwear. I paired it with a lighter houndstooth hooded jacket from Express and some comfortable Toms booties. It was easy to add a bit of glam to this look with some berry lipstick and faux-leather leggings. This is a beautiful and eye-catching look for running errands with your kiddos as the weather starts to warm up a little. Who said the “everyday girl” can’t look fabulous?

MY CASUAL STYLE FOR FALL
Uh oh… did I say the four letter f word? I know, it’s a scary thought for some: FALL, also known as, the end of summer. The days are shorter, the mornings are chillier and for myself and the majority of my good friends, it means back to the classroom.
I made a big decision to go back to work this school year. I have been on a double maternity leave for the past four years, staying at home with my boys. I really wanted to make the right decision for my family but also for me. I am always a big advocate for doing things that make YOU happy. Luckily enough, a part-time position was available at a school that I have always wanted to teach at. I couldn’t be luckier with the way it worked out! I still get to keep that home aspect of my life but continue on with my professional career as well.
It also gives me time to time to keep up with my blogging and crocheting! I typically pick dressier styles for my blogs posts but I secretly love dressing down. I feel most like myself in my good ol’ Chuck Taylor Converse shoes. Soft distressed denim and this chunky scarf make this whole outfit comfortable and cozy: perfect for the approaching colder weather.
The Dylan Fringe Scarf is a new one in my Etsy Shop this month. I wanted to create a new pattern that included tassels to keep with the current trends. It’s made with chunky marble grey and white yarn but also comes in a variety of colours. It is by far my favourite scarf style yet. The length is over seven feet and makes for a really versatile scarf that would be great over a sweater, a long-sleeve tee (as seen above) or a coat.
If you live in Calgary, come visit me at the Etsy: Made in Canada market this September! Over 6,000 are attending and you can find all the details here.
P.S. For all those teachers and momma’s with kids going back to school this week, I hope it went well!
Hat – Harper’s Hats Cooper Toque / Shirt – Express in Black (almost sold out so here is the same one in grey! (I am wearing xs)/ Pants – True Religion / Boots – Hunter in Black Matte and why not in Red too!?
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I wanted to save these photos to feature this week. I was originally just going to use them for my Etsy website but the backdrop and red accents turned out so gorgeous that I had to share them with you.
Lace back tops are one of my closet staples. I like them because as a mom, I can get away with throwing on a sweatshirt but still feel semi-dressed up because of the hide-and-seek lace detailing. They can be layered with a different coloured camisole to make the lace really stand out, as I have done here. If you like a more subtle, sexier look, wear this sweatshirt over a bra that matches the lace colour. An easy way to take this look from day to night!
The one I am wearing us currently on sale with an additional 40% off so order online or pop in to Express before it’s gone!
Of course I am show casing another Cooper toque because I just can’t get enough of all the pretty colours they come in! If you are planning on buying one, wow them with RED! Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day.
P.S. Stay tuned for my next blog instalment, I’m letting my 3 year old boy pick my outfits for the next 5 days!
