Have you lost that loving feeling for Halloween this year? The snow has got a lot of Calgarians down this October as we are already wrestling with terrible road conditions and digging out our driveways.
Halloween is my kids’ most-anticipated “holiday” of the year. We love it. This year, I wanted to try a family costume idea. Which isn’t easy when your kids are getting older and too cool for most things. Thankfully, we had the best time hanging out at the Hanger Museum in our new Top Gun inspired costumes from HalloweenCostumes.com. I’ve put together a list of fun family Halloween costume ideas below and see more of our styled Goose and Maverick photoshoot.

Top Gun
Can you believe that Top Gun hit theatres on May 16, 1986? I was only 3 years old at the time! But that film was one of my family’s favourites growing up. As my own kids have gotten older, my husband and I have been slowly introducing our favourite classic movies. My boys have grown to absolutely love the movie Top Gun. It gives me that nostalgic feeling seeing them enjoy it…. and the soundtrack for that matter. Adult flight suits come with both Maverick and Goose patches that can be switched out with Velcro. The children’s suits are fastened with Maverick name tags.

Family Halloween Costume Ideas
Searching around for family Halloween costume ideas inspired me to create a little list for fun! All of these costumes have multiple options for adults and children of any age.
The Hanger Flight Museum
I know that many of you are probably wonder where we took these amazing photos. The Hanger Flight Museum is located just south of the airport in Calgary. It’s a beautiful but educational space showcasing over 24 aircraft and 58 aeronautical engines. If you have an aviation enthusiast in your family, it is definitely a must-visit. It can also be visited as a field trip or rented for events and birthday parties. Check out admission and hours plus the full collection of aircraft on their website.
What are you being this year for Halloween?

AMAZING post. The Halloween theme with the Avaition undertone is fantastic. It also helps I live in Calgary and drive by that museum everyday on my way to work.
Your Halloween costumes are fantastic and original. Maverick, Goose, Iceman and of course Viper. I’m guessing you are call sign Charlie.
Great post and enough of the snow.
Thanks so much Brian! Happy Halloween!
