Let’s celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary and @disneystudioscanada’s new movie Disney’s #Wish, by baking Star sugar cookies! The character Star helps Asha confront the ruler of their Kingdom of Rosas and save her community. See Disney’s Wish only in theatres on November 22, 2023! #ad #WishUponAStarCA

Best Sugar Cookie Recipe
Cream together:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar

Mix in:
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup milk

Combine dry ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tap salt
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Divide dough in two, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for an hour.

Preheat oven to convection 375°F.
Roll dough into 1/4” thickness.
Use cookie cutters or cut out your own designs like “Star”!
Bake on a parchment-lined baking tray for 8 minutes until the edges just start to brown.
Cool completely before icing.

Royal Icing Recipe
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tbsp meringue powder
4 tbsp water
1/4 tsp almond extract
Stir to combine.
*add more water or sugar to reach flooding consistency
Dip your cookies in the icing or outline your shapes with a small icing tip and then fill in!

We met over 16 years ago in a university bar in London, Ontario where he worked and I frequented. Before I even made it home that night, he had already slid into my Facebook PMs. ☺️ When I moved across the country to Calgary, Alberta for a teaching job a few months later, we only lasted four months before he made the decision to move too.

I would never be someone to say that marriage is a fairytale. It’s full of ups and downs, great moments and tough patches. It’s something that’s worked on every single day. After everything we’ve been through in 16 years, I’d still go back to that cold, tipsy April night and choose him. 💕
