How can you not have a little fun dressing up once a year?! Finding matching Halloween costumes for your kids isn’t easy, especially when they never agree! Luckily, I found this food-inspired combo that they both seem to love. Read up about where to get some great deals on kid’s costumes and I’m revealing the details on my easy DIY mermaid costume!
Halloween Costume Ideas for Siblings
It’s not easy to find costumes that match for your kids. Especially when your kids have different genders, ages and tastes! I stumbled across this s’more and peanut butter duo last week at Winners in Calgary. They were only $24-$29 each! I think that’s a pretty reasonable amount to spend, plus because of their style, they can be worn again as they grow older!
The pairing is a little unconventional but I actually LOVE smearing peanut butter on my s’mores! Have you tried it? Yum! It occurred to me that you can’t really go wrong with food costumes for children. I also like the fact that they are appropriate for school and don’t have a mask. Halloween night is usually a very chilly one in Calgary so these costumes can also fit easily over warm coats and boots if needed.
Mermaid Costume
I found this mermaid tail costume at Value Village Thrift Store for a little over $20 last month. They have a fantastic selection of adult costumes! I was having a hard time thinking of what to wear for a top since I didn’t want to wear anything too skimpy and revealing. This one-piece bathing suit from Bikini Village (that’s currently 50% off!!) ended up being the perfect combination. You’d probably never know it’s a bathing suit! It was a pretty easy costume considering I just added some accessories that I had around the house! I applied teal and purple eyeshadow, purple-hued lipstick and big fake eyelashes. My hair extensions have those mermaid vibes so I used my T3 Micro curling wand to add some beachy waves.
