Do you have a bucket list? A collection of experiences that you want to live? A hot air balloon ride over the Arizona desert at sunrise is exactly one of those things that may be something that you would want to do in a lifetime.
Hot Air Balloon Ride in Phoenix, Arizona
My recent trip to Phoenix, Arizona concluded with a hot air balloon ride from Hot Air Expeditions. When I received my itinerary for this trip, I knew that this would be the highlight! But there was something else about this flight that held a different meaning to me. My mom passed away 4 years ago the night before what would have been her 58th birthday. I can’t believe I’m writing 4 years already. My grief was absolutely unbearable for the first year and now I finally feel like I’m coming through it a little lighter.
A few close friends asked me if it was a good idea to be in Arizona this weekend because they know that anniversaries are always really tough. I thought this would be the perfect way to celebrate life and living it to the fullest. Travelling fills my soul and makes me feel alive! Which is exactly what she would have wanted for me. My mom never knew me as a blogger and I often wonder what she would think of it all. So the significance of checking something off of my bucket list on what would have been her 62nd birthday was so special to me. I like to think she was smiling down at me on her birthday as I floated a little closer to her in heaven.

Hot Air Expeditions
If you’re looking to check this one off of your bucket list, then I would highly recommend doing it in a setting like this. When you take a sunrise or sunset balloon ride with Hot Air Expeditions, expect to spend a little over 3 hours in their company. Your inflight time is usually for about an hour. I am seriously afraid of heights and I found this a totally different experience. It was not scary at all! It truly feels like floating, it’s smooth and graceful. After landing, you’ll be treated to a celebratory champagne toast, a delicious breakfast or evening hor d’oeuvres from local eatery Vincent’s on Camelback.
Whether you are celebrating a birthday, an anniversary or want to check a hot air balloon ride off of your bucket list, I hope that you’ll consider taking this flight one day!
