When I’m packing for a vacation, I’m all about comfort. Especially when it is a destination that I will be doing a lot of walking! I love rompers, jumpsuits and maxi dresses for spring and summer travel because they are easy to pack. They can be worn during the day and take you straight into the evening. Plus they are so comfortable! If you need more packing inspiration, see everything that I packed on my last trip to the Bahamas! The material of this maxi dress from Pink Blush couldn’t be any softer and I always love that most of their dresses have pockets! This one also comes in a beautiful red colour.
How to Find Places to Photograph When You Travel
I’m often asked how I go about beautiful places and murals to photograph. Even when I’m travelling, I’m always on the hunt to get a great photo opportunity. Here are a few tips to help you find great places while you are a vacation or even in your own city!
1. Be a Detective on Instagram
Before you leave, go on a little social media hunt. Instagram and Pinterest would be your best places to start. In the Instagram app, I use the search feature (the little magnifying glass) to type in a location. I then look through the Top, Tag and Places tabs to get ideas from other people’s photos. Instagram remembers what you search and you will start seeing the most popular photos show up in your search window. If you like a photo, click the little ribbon flag to archive it. The best part? Most people geotag their photos so you can create yourself a little map of places you would like to visit! I’ve made an entire folder of Instagram inspiration and mapped out how close these places are to my hotel. It’s so worth it in the end so that you don’t miss out on something beautiful! Here is my London, England inspiration folder for my trip coming up in a couple weeks!
2. Get inspired on Pinterest
Travel images on Pinterest are some of the most popular pins. You can find beautiful images of any place you’d like to go after performing an easy search online or in the app. Most pins are connected to blogs or websites linked with more information, so click on the pin to do a little further digging. You can also create an inspiration board here too!
3. Google it!
There are tons of bloggers like me who love to write about this sort of thing. So Google it! Try searching keywords like “instagrammable” or “best photographs” with your city name. I did a blog post on Instagrammable Maui – Best Spots for Photos in Hawaii and it’s been a really popular post with a lot of people finding it through searching this way.
4. Walk!
Leave public transit behind and explore the city on foot. Kaley and I found this wall after we parked our car and just started strolling downtown Abbotsford. It was tucked down an alley behind the main street. A local stopped to inform us that it had only been painted in the past week! There is so much hidden charm to be found when travelling to a new place. Just keep your eyes open for it!
Love this! Can I ever come shoot a pretty wall with you?!
