I took the plunge and made the decision to get my first cosmetic tattooing: LIP BLUSH! I gave definition, fullness, and colour back into my again pale lips with this safe, semi-permanent procedure. Bye- bye lipstick! My lips are natural-looking and I feel even more confident with or without makeup. Read on to see photos of the entire healing process and I’m answering all of your questions so that you can see if it’s right for you!

Lip Blush Tattoo
Getting old is great isn’t it? At least there are so many things to help our aging skin in 2020. I inherited a pretty great set of lips from my momma and I’ve never added any filler. But you have probably noticed that I ALWAYS wear lipstick but that’s because as I’ve aged, my lips have lost most of their pigment. Not only that, but they’ve taken on a bluish tinge, instead of that rich, warm, rosiness that they once had. Another thing that we lose over time is our natural vermillion border. This is the “rim” or line that defines your mouth. My skin pretty much blends right in with my lips and I have almost no definition left as you can see in the first photo above. Good times right?
I had never even heard of Lip Blush Tattooing until I saw a before and after photo on Instagram that I stumbled upon. You’ve probably heard of the new trend of cosmetically tattooed eyeliner but have you heard of it for your mouth? It is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that uses water-based inks to achieve a tinted, natural-looking lip colour.
Answering all of your questions!
So let’s talk about my experience with Lip Blush Tattooing. When I asked you for your questions on Instagram, I had a lot of great inquiries! I am basing all of these answers on the experience that I had. All studios and artists are different, so please keep that in mind.
What is it?
Lip Blush is a cosmetic tattoo procedure implants your chosen colour into the lips for a hint of colour
It is a semi-permanent makeup that restores your natural vermillion line, improves the shape and fullness of your lips while enhancing the natural lip colour.
How long does the procedure take?
My appointment lasted three hours. During the first hour, the technician and I went over the treatment and we chose a lip colour. One of the most important parts is finding your natural vermillion border and my artist did this with a full consultation on my lips. The next two hours are for the lip blush tattooing procedure. Some of this time was also spent on before and after photos.
How do you choose a colour?
Flirt suggested that I bring in my favourite go-to lip colour. This actually made choosing a colour quite easy as I already had an idea of what I wanted. There are quite a few different shades to choose from and each colour comes with a lip gloss that you can try on to make sure that you’re comfortable with it. After a couple of trials, I chose the colour Dusty Rose and I love how it turned out!
Does it hurt?
Now please know that having an experienced technician is extremely important here. I received a hospital-grade topical numbing cream that was reapplied throughout the procedure! I didn’t feel much. After, I kept ice on them for the first few hours and the next morning after I woke up. My lips felt tight, almost like a sun blister. It didn’t hurt but was slightly uncomfortable for 24 hours.
Is it a tattoo?
Yes! It is a cosmetic tattoo.
How long does it last?
Lip blush tattoo can last between 3 and 5 years! Not bad right?! Everyone’s skin is different so this varies from person to person.

What is the healing time?
I found the healing time so quick! Within 6 days my lips were totally healed. Immediately after the treatment, your lips will be quite dark and swollen. On the fourth day and fifth day, my lip skin really peeled. Your lips will heal a natural, lighter shade. Please refer back to my photo collage above to see.
Do you need a touch-up?
You do! After 8 weeks, you’ll head back in and they will go over your lips and check how things have healed. You will then have the treatment a second time as needed to ensure all the pigment is covered.
How much does it cost?
Lip blush tattooing costs around $675, including the subsequent touch-up appointment.
What if my lips are thin?
Well, you’re in luck! My nurse injector Andrea with BeautyCall offers this treatment combined with a half-syringe of dermal filler! This would be a total lip transformation!!
What are your thoughts? Do you love it? I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! Stay-tuned on my Instagram to see my follow up appointment in a month!

Kiki
