As if Inglewood wasn’t already one of Calgary’s coolest neighbourhoods, now it is turning parking lots into trendy, colourful, photography spaces where you can get creative for FREE. I had a chance to get over to check it out this week while bringing along three new fall outfits to show you! Check out these Calgary photography spots!
Calgary Photography Spots
PARK PARK
PARK PARK is located in the community of Inglewood, Calgary. It is a parking lot owned by Calgary Parking Authority, that’s been turned into a beautiful, colourful photography space! Find it at 9th Avenue and 11th Street SE. You may want to try parking on the street instead of the lot so that you don’t block your own photo opportunities!
This space was designed by Public City Architecture. This firm transformed Lot 43 after winning a design competition with the Calgary Parking Authority and the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation. There’s a cute nod to Canadian culture with square cut-outs of hockey sticks, campfires, books, bicycles and basketballs… our love and appreciation for the outdoors. Each cut-out is painted in fun, vibrant colours and perfect for your Instagram photos. The north side of the lot is lined with colourful garage doors for even more backdrop potential.
Photography tips:
Visit PARK PARK at dusk to take advantage of the soft natural light combined with the pretty outdoor string lights. Cloudy days would also be great so that you don’t have to contend with blaring sunlight and awkward shadows. Hopefully, the parking lot will be empty when you visit for maximum photo opportunities!
Fall Fashion
I brought along my 2 dogs and 3 outfits for this outing! The leaves are already starting to turn and the mornings are much cooler. Running shoes and combat boots are must-haves for fall and I’ve paired them with soft, warm sweaters and jeans. Check out these outfits below!
Outfit 1: Cozy and Feminine
Bralettes have become uber popular since COVID so don’t be afraid to show off those pretty straps in an open back sweater. Tuck your shirt or sweater into your high-waisted mom jeans for the perfect cool mom on the go look!
Lace Padded Bralette from Aerie
Ballet Sweater from American Eagle
Outfit 2: Cute and Casual
Stella & Dot is now selling clothes! I love this reversible leopard bomber. There’s a hint of purple in the leopard pattern so I paired it with these lilac skinny jeans. I am loving my new black zebra kicks from New Balance too!
Stella & Dot Reversible Leopard Bomber
New Balance Zebra Shoes (also come in leopard)
Lilac Skinny Jeans from The Gap
Outfit 3: Soft and Edgy
I popped a chunky mustard cardigan over this grey sweater dress to maximize fall vibes. Doc Martens have made a MASSIVE comeback this year, do you still own yours from when you were a teen? They are so worth the $200 investment as I promise you’ll be getting tons of use out of them for years to come.
Black Aviators from DIFFeyewear
Mustard Yellow Cardigan from Chicwish (similar to mine)
Love, Kiki
