It looks like no one will be traveling anywhere any time soon so I figured we could dream about warmer temperatures and less stressful times with this blog post on one of my favourite cities in Mexico. For your next vacation, here is a Puerto Vallarta walking tour, including a handy map of the best locations to take beautiful tourist photographs of the town!

Puerto Vallarta Walking Tour
First of all, here is my disclaimer for this post. There were so many places to snap beautiful photos in the city of Puerto Vallarta. I only had one afternoon to tour around so here is what I found in this short period of time. If you have more to offer, please add the location in the comments section. I LOVED this city and intend to go back soon to add more to this post! Also, I want to add that while walking around with my bestie, never once did I feel unsafe. We covered quite a bit of ground and were greeted by nothing but smiles and welcoming hospitality! Don’t forget to check out the map at the end of the post to locate each place.
Umbrella Alley
Thankfully, we stumbled onto the Umbrella Alley without having to search for too long. It’s not far off of the Malecon and obviously easy to spot from the bottom of the road. These umbrellas are strung between two buildings and form a colourful canopy that’s perfect for photographs. Find this location pinned on the map below or search for the Ofelia Wine Bar.
Frida Wall Art
Don’t stray too far because at the corner of Pipila and Morelos is a freshly painted mural of Frida surrounded by goldfish. From here, continue down Morelos street to find even more colourful buildings. You will reach the angel wings easily a few blocks down.
Malecon Boardwalk
The Malecon is where you should continue your journey wandering the streets of Puerto Vallarta. It’s an oceanside esplanade lined with cute restaurants and shops. Make sure to stop at the end of the boardwalk to snap the perfect tourist photo with the Puerto Vallarta sign and sea horse sculpture.
Angel Wings Wall
La Vaquitá is a nightclub in Puerto Vallarta that has changed its exterior look a couple of times. It is now a grey building with beautiful monochrome angel wings. Step on the rock to bring you to the perfect photo height.
Papel Picado
You don’t want to miss the chance to feel like you’ve stepped into the Disney movie Coco. At the corner of Calle Encino and Calle Matamoros, you’ll find the street lined with tissue paper flag garland called papel picado. From here, take the wooden rope bridge across the river and you’ll end up in a cool Mexican flea market. This is where you’ll get the best deals in town to find souvenirs to bring home.
Lazaro Cardenas Park
Lazaro Cardenas Park is a large open square decorated with beautiful hand-laid tile mosaics. You may be lucky enough to catch a market or cultural performances while you’re there!
Playa Los Arcos Hotel
Save the best for last! In my opinion, the Playa Los Arcos Boutique Hotel was the best location for some cool photos! The side of the building is painted in vibrant red, pink, yellow, orange, and teal colours. It’s adorable flower pots, terracotta awnings, and metal railings add even more character to the hotel. You’ll also find some great restaurants in the area so it’s a great way to end this Puerto Vallarta walking tour!
