That crisp autumn air seems to have arrived in Alberta and has us thinking about pumpkin spice lattes, fall decorations and cozy closet style. The fashion world can’t seem to get enough of the boho western look. Maybe it’s the popularity of the tv show Yellowstone that has us all morphed into wannabe cowgirls. I have to admit that I’d love to be Beth Dutton for a day. In this post, I’m showing you my Smash + Tess Romper styling ideas for a bohemian cowgirl look in the prairie fields of Alberta.
Smash + Tess Romper Styling
The newest romper to the Smash + Tess family is the Aria Romper. It might be my favourite yet! The rectangular pockets are sewn in front instead of the sides so the hips don’t balloon out. The v-neck neckline is also really flattering. The fabric is thicker than their signature fabric making it warmer to wear in the chillier months. I went for the Winter Cream colour, although the Midnight Black is also gorgeous. This light beige colour is really trending for fall so don’t pack away your lights and whites quite yet!
This romper can be worn on its own for an everyday look or you can dress it up with accessories. I went for the bohemian cowgirl look by adding a beaded waist belt and felt fedora hat in ivory from Urban Outfitters. My flats are out of season from Target but I love this similar loafer option instead! Add a long cardigan to layer over top for a polished, put-together outfit for a brisk autumn day.
Bohemian Cowgirl
One of my favourite things to do is explore the backroads of the Alberta countryside on my own. I set out to get lost…. or as lost as one can get with Apple Maps at their disposal. I am always in awe of beautiful locations that have been hiding less than 10 minutes from my front door. Fall is the best time of year, in my opinion, as farmers are harvesting their crops into round hay bales and the landscape takes on a light golden colour. On this trip, I stumbled upon a herd of cattle and pulled over for some really great photographs. It’s always me and my tripod on these road trips, proving that you don’t need a professional photographer to capture the perfect moments.
