Mermaid Hair
All my life, I’ve had fine thin hair. I’ve spent lots of time curling my locks in order to add volume and give the appearance of thicker hair. Hair extensions have always been a dream of mine but the thought of potentially doing damage to my own hair with glues always turned me off or I was worried that they wouldn’t appear natural. So when I heard about the Vogue Pearl method from The Extensionist, I knew it was the right time to take the plunge (mermaid pun intended).
Before we go any further, everything you need to know about this amazing transformation is all included in this video and it’s worth a watch!
The Extentionist
At The Extensionist, you get REAL HAIR, nothing synthetic. Micro-silicone beads are used to attach the wefts of hair and the best part is that it will last up to 7 months without doing any bit of damage to your scalp or your own hair. With locations in Calgary, Edmonton and Kelowna, they can customize any look you want that is right for you. From 16″ to 22″ of length, you can choose much thickness that you’d like. Of course there is custom colour matching to achieve that natural look!

Extensions for Your Budget
As always, I want to provide you with some good deals because I believe that it’s important to have options that fit your budget. No matter what option you choose, you will still get 10% off any full package with coupon code KIKI10! That is over and above any other monthly promotion that The Extensionist is running so you can save in a few different ways! You can splurge with the Diamond series or save with the Pink series but there are a few differences. Make sure to watch my video to get the full scoop or check out their website. If they were here I would be in the salon already! This year I’ve decided to do extensions for my birthday. Thanks for all the tips mermaid mama
Come visit!!! I’ll even come with you and hang out and drink champagne while you get it done. lol
I go to the Edmonton location and I LOVE my extensions. I went with the pink series to see how well long hair would work for me while roofing and so far so good! The micro beads are amazing. My hair has been thru windstorms, rain, hard hats, extreme heat, sweat, dryness and humidity and my weft wasn’t that much looser than on someone with normal wear. I shower and wash them every day and as long as i put in a good quality oil or two after showering and during the day the extensions stay soft and bouncy. I’m upgrading to Diamond now that i know these can withstand going thru hell and back.
Hey Angela, love this, thank you so much for sharing. I’m so impressed with how they are withstanding your everyday! Make sure you get the 10% off the Diamond when you upgrade! That is on top of any promotion they are running. Enjoy girl!
WOW! They look so beautiful. I have worn extensions for years and now I can’t stop lol They did an amazing job and the hair looks so natural and beautiful!
I never knew you did and I’ve always loved your hair!!
Va va voom!!! Your hair looks amazing babe!! I might need to try this out. My natural hair is getting long, but I would to add another 6 inches or so.
And the best part about adding length is that the ends are SO THICK! That was the biggest wow for me!
They look sooooo beautiful. I had tape in ones before and I found they left my hair broken and un healthy when I took them out. It was also difficult to wear your hair up. How do these extensions do putting your hair up, and have you heard much feed back on the condition of your own hair once you take them out?
Hi Tara! I hear that it doesn’t damage your natural hair at all! Which is the only reason why I would go ahead with the Vogue Pearl method, I would never want to chance that! Also, I have 5 rows in so I don’t think I can wear it too high, like in a bun, but I can do lower styles and tons of braids. I would say 3 rows may be better if you want to wear it in higher styles.
I am moving to Ontario but want to get extensions before I go. How often do you have to come back for mauntwbce ? Tightening? Will offer salons be able to do this for me or is the application you guys use only done at your salons? Please let me know. Thanks !!
Hey Miranda! Yes, you do have to go back every 4 weeks for tightening. I checked with the Extensionist this morning for you and they said if you can find a salon near you in Ontario that offers the Vogue Pearl method than they can do those for you! Make sure to book in soon before you go, they are busy! So excited for you. xo
Your hair looks AMAZING! I’d honestly never know that wasn’t your real hair & it’s so full. I want to try!
It’s life-changing! lol I feel I am hooked now.
Your hair looks AMAZING! My hair has always been long and thick but there’s just something about hair extensions that makes me wish I had some hahah

I’m a little jealous!! I want my hair to look like this
There have been some amazing advances in hair extension industries. That has opened many doors for those females that desired to improve their appearance but unfortunately there was not many opportunities.
Your hair looks amazing! Is there a certain age you have to be to get it done? I’m 15 and I am very self-conscious about my thin hair and I would really love to get this done. I also have been saving up some money, just wondering how much it would cost on average?
Hi hun! I don’t think there is a minimum age to get extensions. There are few types of options that you can check out on their website. It all depends on what quality of hair: Pink Series or Diamond Series. Pink series last for one installation. The Diamond series last for two installations, the hair quality is better but it is twice the price. It also depends on what length and how much you need too! https://www.theextensionist.ca/prices
Amazing! I’ll be sharing this with my brother, they really need to read this.
Curious now that it has been a year since you had them, what would you say today about the hair quality, the maintenance etc. and the pros and cons
I was actually surprised that the hair was in really good shape. The re were still no split ends! Although the hair wefts do thin out over time and the amount of hair has decreased slightly… just like we shed out natural hair too daily.
I do love them or I wouldn’t have gotten them in again! My head is totally used to it now, so this new installation didn’t feel like a change at all. I kept my new ones really long though and I love them! I’ll be posting a video and photos next week! Thanks Cat!
Hi Kiki I never had hair extensions and was wondering how much difference there was between the mermaid and the nano micro beading? I am planning on getting extensions and also curious about how much damage it does to your natural hair. Because I used to have long thick hair and due to the gastric bypass surgery and complications all my hair fell out now it’s thin and a little past my shoulders. Wondering also if you have any ideas on how to find someone qualified to do it for me? I live in Kansas.
Hi Annamarie,
I would google hair extensions in your area and see what type of method they use. Stay away from taping! There are lots of methods out there, I really like the micro beading because it stays in and acts and feels like your natural hair. I didn’t experience any damage!
very interesting info ! .
Love your hair babe! I’ve only worn extensions for photo shoots( I’m a model) but would love to start wearing them for every day since my natural hair is short! You have truly inspired me!
