I started this blog about a year and a half ago because I wanted to inspire other stay-at-home moms to not give in to the “mom-rut”. As moms, we are unanimously tired. There’s barely enough time to drink a cup of coffee and scarf down a piece of toast in the mornings, let alone time to shower, get dressed, do your hair and put on make-up. Well, I’m here to tell you, MAKE TIME. And this is why….
Look Your Best, Feel Your Best
I did it too. I’m guilty of multiple days of greasy topknots and sweat pants. I was tired but kind of lazy too. I figured that I was just staying home so why bother? Why, as women, do we inherently take care of everyone else before ourselves?
Then there would be a day when I had a little time to get ready, look like my old pre-baby self again and I couldn’t believe how GOOD I felt. Looking better on the outside, made me feel good on the inside too. It boosted my confidence and my self-esteem.
And let me just stop you right there in case you want to judge. It is NOT about being vain. Taking care of yourself is about doing something for YOU. I’m not trying to impress anyone by wanting to look my best. Looking presentable and professional is never a bad thing. I feel better, I get more accomplished and I’m always prepared when I have to pop out of the house or receive an unexpected FaceTime call. 🙂 Even if you are not a mom, this rule applies to any woman out there. And trust me, people will notice!
With so many affordable places to shop now, it’s possible to still look good without spending that much. There are no excuses! Don’t have time? Shop online! Don’t know where to start? Well you’re here, so that’s your start. Check out fashion bloggers and see where they get their good deals.
THE IMPORTance of looking your best
You probably already have lots of clothes in your closet that you never wear. Why aren’t you wearing them? Stop waiting for a special occasion and wear that dress, get out your pretty shoes and put on a bold lipstick. Even if you’re only going grocery shopping. Trust me, you don’t look silly, you look beautiful. You’ll never have to worry about running into a friend or making an unexpected errand. Today was my day off work and I wore this outfit to take my son to pre-school and go to Walmart. That’s it. The time it took to get ready this morning was not a waste, it was time well spent, on myself.
My mantra! You will get more done, march around with an overall happiness, accomplish things you never thought possible and rub off on others. I promise to moms out there you will continue on your day with more presence and patience with the kidlets as well.
Go on… Put on the lipstick… And fluff up that hair!
that is a great outfit! I need to start taking more time for myself. you are so right, we put everyone else in front of us! get the kids ready first!!
