Looking for the perfect getaway within driving distance? How about British Columbia wine country!? Tour my two favourite and most Instagram-worthy wineries for breath-taking views and delicious wines. Find out which ones!

The Most Instagrammable Wineries in Kelowna
I’m home from the most relaxing family vacation with my hubby, my boys, and my bestie and her family. The Okanagan Lake was the exact change of scenery that I needed as our first trip in 5 months. Let me start off by saying that this was not a blog post that I had planned to create but I was so inspired by the beauty of these wineries, I had to share it with you! As you’ll notice, I have only included two places on this list so it is definitely a work in progress that I will add to on my next visit. If you know of a winery that you think is Insta-worthy, please let me know! At least there is enough inspiration here to get you a few great photos for social media.
Quail’s Gate Estate Winery
If you’re picturing yourself frolicking through the vineyards with a bottle of wine then you must visit Quail’s Gate Estate Winery. This is the spot! The pergolas, the wine barrel, and the strung patio lights make it one of my favourite places for photos. This family-owned winery in West Kelowna, British Columbia boasts beautiful vineyards perpendicular to the lake. The Old Vines Restaurant is also open and the patio overlooks the grounds.
Hot tip: If you schedule a tasting for $15, you’ll receive a $10 rebate when you purchase wine from the store. Buy a chilled bottle of white and ask for plastic cups as you can take your bottle right out into the vineyard and drink! For even more amazing views, walk through the vines to the water and you’ll come upon unbelievable views of the Okanagan Lake. Picnic-type food can also be purchased inside and enjoyed on the tables overlooking the water. What a way to spend a summer’s day!
Mission Hill Winery
Mission Hill Winery will give you the feeling of visiting a European vineyard. It’s easily one of the most popular wineries in the Okanagan and for good reason. The grounds are impeccable: complete with manicured lawns, terrace lookouts, and an amphitheatre where well-known artists played pre-covid. The 12-story high bell tower can be seen from across the Okanagan lake and coupled with the Loggia 9meaning outdoor room) is the most picturesque background for any photo that you take!
Mission Hill’s terrace restaurant is open for tasting menus only. Make a reservation for a 2-course lunch menu for $60 and a 5-course dinner menu for $125. My bestie and I did the dinner choice and the food was so fresh and incredible. These menus also include wine pairings for each course!
Hot tip: To mimic my Mission Hill bell tower photo, stand only a few metres from the camera so that you don’t appear too small in the photo!

Photography Tips:
Visiting the Okanagan in the summer is the busiest time of year! Be prepared for lots of crowds and very warm temperatures. I highly recommend making a tasting reservation in the evening at either winery. Please note: due to COVID restrictions, reservations are required at most wineries to gain entrance. After your tasting, stick around and wander the grounds to get the best photos. The lighting will be less harsh and you won’t have people in the background of your photos! We waited until the clouds covered the sun to capture all the photos that you see here.
