Trendy Gift Ideas
This year, I’ve put together a list of gift ideas that are currently trending as hot items in 2019. Southcentre Mall has created quite a gift guide this year and I’ve chosen a few of my favourite items to focus on. If you need more gifting inspiration, head to their website to find more!
Feeling overwhelmed with organizing your holiday shopping trip? Then use Southcentre’s Search. Find. ShopNOW online tool. You simply type in what type of gift you’re looking for and the search result will yield each store that carries that item in the mall! This will prevent you from doubling back or searching for an item that may not actually be where you think it is! It’s a genius way to save you time during the busy holiday season. Try it out for yourself! Now, here are trendy gift ideas for 2019:
Poosh Diffuser Kit, Saje Natural Wellness – $100
Diffusers are a fantastic gift that’s sure to please anyone. Essential oils are all the rage right now because of their health benefits and air purification properties. Not to mention that it makes your home smell great. This kit comes with the Poosh Diffuser Blend but there are lots of great oil add-ons in store. Go smell for yourself! I highly recommend the Good Cheer diffuser blend holiday collection with 5 bottles including Peppermint and Tree scents.
Google Home Mini, The Source – $50
At the top of both of my sons’ Christmas list this year is the Google Home Mini. This is a very affordable yet cool gift for a person of any age. We have the Google Home in our house and its favourite uses are for daily news and weather reports, traffic conditions, telling jokes, recipe instructions, and playing our favourite songs on Spotify. The Google Mini is available in chalk, charcoal, aqua, and coral colours.
Snake-skin Belt Bag, Aritzia – $58
Snake-skin is ALL the fashion rage this year. It’s taking over leopard print as the must-have pattern of the season. Belt bags have also become really popular so here you’re getting the best of both worlds. This bag has an adjustable belt so no need to worry about finding the right size. Give this gift to someone who is always on the go or loves to travel. Fanny packs are a great place to keep a passport, phone, and wallet at easy access and securely attached to your person.
Tea Pot & Loose Leaf Tea, DAVIDs Tea – $50
You can never go wrong with gifts from DAVIDs Tea. A Teapot and loose-leaf tea is a great gift idea for anyone on your list. There are lots of great ideas in-store like advent calendars, tea sets, and travel tumblers. Shop gift sets under the $20, $30, and $50 price range. Tea also makes a fun stocking stuffer too!
Acacia Server & Copper Cheese Knife, Crate & Barrel – $52
Charcuterie is always a favourite when entertaining friends and family. This Acacia wood and cooper cheese knife set are perfect for the foodie in your life. A set of wine or highball glasses would also compliment this set nicely!
Sparkle Ball Earrings, Hillberg & Berk – $60
Hillberg & Berk has become one of Canada’s most popular jewellers. If you haven’t heard of them yet, then listen up! Their stunning Sparkle Ball earrings are immediately recognizable on any pretty earlobe and their mission to empower women with their slogan #ShareYourSparkle makes any purchase from Hillberg & Berk a cherished one. Did I mention that these signature earrings come in 17 different colours? Check out their kiosk in Southcentre Mall!
Record Player, Sunrise Records – $150
I have to admit, that this is something that’s been on my Christmas list for a couple of years. A record player is a cool and ultimately classic gift for someone in your life. Maybe for your brother, who has fond memories of listening to your parents’ record collection with you while growing up. I like this type of gift because it starts a collection that you can add to for subsequent special gifting occasions.
Patagonia Pull-over, Sporting Life – $125
Last year it was teddy bear coats, this year it is sherpa pullovers. This Patagonia Pullover is that perfect shade of blush pink or oatmeal. It’s the perfect present of warmth and coziness. Get one for your mom or sister, and one for yourself!
Huette Fedora by Auxiliary, Aritzia – $48
A classic wool hat will never go out of style. Add instant chicness to any outfit with this wool fedora from Aritzia. This style also comes in black and green. Aritzia is always my go-to for mittens, toques, and scarves for the winter-time so check out their great selection while in-store!
Smeg Kettle, Hudson’s Bay – $200
Smeg brand is an Italian home appliance brand that’s taken 2019 by storm. You’ll fall in love with their pretty, retro designs in cool colours. Don’t believe me? Stop in at Hudson’s Bay to see their kitchen gadgets in person. If a kettle isn’t what your receiver needs then perhaps a blender, coffee maker, toaster, or juicer?
Instagrammable Wall Displays
Did you have a chance to check out CHROMA YYC this summer? It was a fun and colourful Instagram pop-up with different murals done by local artists in Calgary. This Christmas there is a new area set-up right outside of Sporting Life awaiting your attention! “The Set” features 6 different cubbies that are perfect for the gram. Get your friends or family members to snap a photo and tag it #thesetyyc! Don’t forget to tag Southcentre Mall. And if you’re looking for the larger, geometric wall by Michelle Hoogveld, find it upstairs, outside of Eddie Bauer.
So which gifts are on your wishlist this year? I hope you got inspired to go shop Southcentre Mall today!
