Our last hurrah before school started again! Get all the travel details about our weekend getaway at Panorama Mountain Resort. You wouldn’t believe all the cool things that this destination has to offer families in the summer! Get the scoop in this week’s blog post:
Weekend Getaway at Panorama Mountain Resort
As you can probably guess, I’m not a huge camper. I know a lot of people love it but I like a little more comfort when vacationing! That being said, I still love to experience the majestic mountains whenever possible in the summer. When our family friends suggested that we take a little weekend getaway, Panorama Mountain Resort was our first choice! Our family had never been before and once I looked online and saw all of the amazing amenities, we booked it right away for the Labour Day long weekend. It’s about a 3.5-4 hour drive from Calgary, Alberta to Invermere, British Columbia. The drive takes you through the mountains and its absolutely beautiful.
There are LOTS of options for accommodations on the resort. It is divided between the Upper and Lower Village. I would suggest the Upper area if you are with your kids and want to be close to the action and the Lower if you are wanting a quiet, more relaxing stay. Our two families stayed together in a huge 3-bedroom condo in the Peaks Lodge. There was room to sleep 8 with a pull-out couch, king bed, queen bed and two twin beds. It was so handy to have a full kitchen in the unit and we cooked almost all of our meals here. The views from our balcony were spectacular too.
What to do With Your Kids!
I couldn’t get over how much there was to do with your kids at Panorama. This place seriously caters to families. We could barely fit in all of the fun! Most of the activities are located in the Upper Village and they were about a 2-minute walk from our lodge. I highly suggest purchasing an Activity Pack so that you can enjoy all of the activities they have to offer.
Here are the Activity Pack options:
- EuroBungy
- Paradise Mining Co. (pan for fossils and gem stones!)
- Howling 18-hole mini golf
- ChairLift Ride
- Climbing Wall
- Archery
Pool and Waterslide
We spent almost an entire afternoon in the pool area. We ran into friends from Calgary and enjoyed some adult time hanging out in the warm pool while the kids played and enjoyed the waterslide area. It was a happening spot! I can only imagine coming back and lounging in the outdoor hot tubs after a long day of skiing. If your wondering about where I purchased my fabulous one-piece bathing suit, it’s from Bikini Village, and it comes in a bunch of different colours!
Hiking
One of my favourite things that we experienced as a family was a ride on the chairlift to the top of the mountain. We then descended on a trail that took us through the “Secret Forest”. There is a hidden treehouse complete with tunnel slide that is definitely worth finding! Just watch out for the mountain bikers! You can take the chairlift back down to base or walk down the mountain. Watch your step!
Extra Activities
There are multiple programs offered daily around the resort, some are free of charge and others can be preregistered for a fee. You can find a daily and weekly print-out at the front-desk. My boys have been begging me to do tie-dyed shirts for the past few weeks so they were stoked when they found out that this was offered! We dropped them off for an hour activity and they got to bring home a special Panorama tie-dyed tee!
We also hauled our bikes up for the trip and the kids loved biking around the Upper and Lower villages. If you’re into mountain biking than this is THE place. It’s a little advanced for our kids still but great for older, more experienced teens and adults. It’s hard to believe that there is just so much to offer families during the summer at a ski resort! We can’t wait to go back this winter and hit the slopes!
Happy Travels!
